On Sunday, August 28, after unrest erupted in the neighborhood, Suleman Lawal alias Ariku, a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at Mile 12 in Lagos, was assassinated.
According to The Nation, the ongoing rivalry between the Aiye and Eiye cult groups was the cause of the violence.
Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the police, verified the occurrence and added;
“The command is aware of the bloody clash taking place in the state’s Owode-Elede region. The situation is being managed by DPO Owode-Onirin. The bolstering has been prepared. We are keeping an eye on things.
