Panic has gripped the residents of Ishara and Ogere in Ogun State’s Ikenne and Remo-North Local Government Areas as a result of the threat of an attack by alleged bandits.
Residents claimed to have received a letter threatening to assault the settlements that was allegedly written by bandits.
One of the residents said, “I was in a prayer group yesterday when we were notified that bandits submitted a letter of intended attack to Ogere and Ishara towns in Ogun state.
It was reportedly confirmed by an Ishara principal that the letter was addressed to the two communities.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, SP, the State Police Command’s spokesperson, who confirmed the development, called the letter prankish.
“We are looking into the so-called letter in an effort to apprehend the author because some people will just sit down and consider how to incite unwarranted hysteria in the public. We are making every effort to apprehend those responsible for the threatening letter, according to the PPRO.
Oyeyemi responded, “We saw a composed letter, and we realized that a mischief maker created it,” when asked if he had seen the letter. Additionally, we are not at all letting up on our operational actions across the state, so with or without a letter, we make sure to put in place a very solid security arrangement to fend off any scenario from any direction. We have arrived.
